USERA Spec Racer Challenge Rounds 1 and 2 Road Atlanta Recap

April 11, 2010

Jason Barfield at Road Atlanta The Spec Racer Ford celebrated a major birthday milestone April 10th and 11th during the USERA managed 25th Anniversary Celebration event at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. The weekend's festivities also included the opening two rounds of the 2010 USERA Spec Racer Challenge and the USERA races had more than 70 entrants for each race.

Jason Barfield (Granville, Ohio) won both USERA races with Keith Scharf (St. Louis, Mo.) finishing 2nd on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday.

Scharf, who prior to the weekend had not driven a race car of any kind in eight years finished on the podium in both races.
“For me, the highlight was the VIP Driver’s Race Saturday afternoon where many of the people responsible for the conception and development of the Spec Racer were able to enjoy the results of their work,” said USERA Director of Competition and event organizer Ken Grammer.

“We could not have asked for a better event,” said USERA Director of Competition and event organizer Ken Grammer. “Everyone who was involved, from the teams, our sponsors, Road Atlanta’s track staff, SCCA’s Atlanta Region staff and our own event officials all worked above and beyond the call to make this event special. Honestly, I spent most of the weekend in awe of the sheer level of professionalism, dedication, and good sportsmanship that was evident from all who were involved in the event.”

Next up for the USERA Spec Racer Challenge is Lime Rock Park Memorial Day Weekend with the Grand-Am Rolex Series.
