20 February 2007

Sports Turf Racing announced today that Speed World Challenge driver Chip Herr will co-drive with local Spec Miata star Jon Hummer at select USERA Endurance Championship races in the Sports Turf Racing Spec Miata.
Sports Turf Racing will be entering a 1991 Mazda Miata in the Spec Miata class of the USERA Endurance Championship. The USERA Endurance Championship is very competitive with endurance races that are three hours or longer. The endurance format provides great racing for fans and drivers and will challenge the team to excell.
"I am really looking forward to getting back into a Miata and working with Jon to run against some of the best Spec Miata racers in the country," Said Chip Herr. "It is going to be very important that we stay consistent and smooth with minimal mistakes and most of all it will be critical for the team to have perfect pit stops."
Hummer and Herr have been friends for many years through the car business. Hummer is an auctioneer in the North East and his father owns Sports Turf in Mannheim, Pa. Hummer has done very well in SCCA regional series with many wins to his credit.
"I have known Chip and followed his career for several years now," said Ken Grammer, President of USERA. "Chip is a great driver with a bright future and we are excited to have both Chip and Jon racing with us for the Endurance Championship."
This year is going to be filled with many different experiences for Herr. Herr is working on two motor sports special interest television shows while continuing to advance his professional driving career. Herr will be providing driver coaching and instructing while also focusing on his family auto dealership. Learn more through
